Trip to Tecopa California

We usually like to visit the hot springs for relaxation. This time a fire broke out in the motor home next to ours. We dashed into the smoke filled vehicle to pull out two dogs and a cat before the fire department arrived.. Only one dog survived with only slight burns. The RV was destroyed.

The Desert

We are always amazed how things can grow when there exists so little water or soil. The Joshua trees grow only above 4000 ft above sea level. The Barrel cactus grows right into the rock.

Rockhound Trip into the Desert 2010

Into the desert near Sandy Valley looking for gold. The road was rough but some drove in comfort. We brought back many rocks that may contain some gold. This used to be an old mine about 100 years ago.

Roses in Pahrump

Roses do very well in the desert if you have the skill. Some of their roses are as big as your outstretched hand.

Trees Have Grown

Our trees and shrubs have grown and the dogs like the comfort of their home.

More Death Valley in the Spring

There is both harsh mountains and lots of green with the extreme temperature. As the sun shifts, so do the colors and shadows of the mountains. It has never looked the same twice.
